Trial operation of innovative equipment

In 2014, Lenenergo went on with trial operation of innovative equipment, including:
Equipment Expected result of implementation
Gas insulated switchgear 110 kV PASS MOH produced by ABB. Place of installation — substation 110 kV #80 Ust-Slavyanka of the Lenenergo branch St. Petersburg High-Voltage Electric Networks. Reduction of the area of placement of the equipment 110kV, reliability augmentation of power supply of consumers and reduction in engineering and construction works on installation of equipment at the substation 110 kV.
The system for determining fault location on transmission lines by wave method TWS FL produced by QUALITROL company (USA). Place of installation — OTL 110 kV Garbolovskaya-1, 2 of the Lenenergo branch St. Petersburg High-Voltage Electric Networks. Reduction of time for elimination of failures at electric power lines and reliability augmentation of power supply of consumers.
Signal transfer device of relay protective automatic equipment for power lines 6-110 kV— the result of development executed by JSC Avangard. Place of installation — substation 35 kV #13 Volkhov-Vasileostrovskaya, substation 110 kV #14 Baltiyskaya, substation 110 kV #104 Vasileostrovskaya of the Lenenergo branch St. Petersburg High-Voltage Electric Networks. Will allow retaining the existing devices of relay protection of OTL 6-110 kV with replacement of worn-out cord-insulated copper communication cables for fiber-optic communication lines.
Wire with protective insulation of series PZVG (produced by LLC Sevkabel-Engineering) and composite poles of series PK-110 with isolating traverses (produced by CJSC FENIKS-88). Place of installation — OTL 35 kV Shusharskaya-1 of the Lenenergo branch St. Petersburg High-Voltage Electric Networks. Compact OTL. Reliability augmentation of power supply of consumers.
Analyzer of dissolved gases in transformer oil Smart 9 (produced by Lumasense, USA). Place of installation — substation 110 kV #165 Petrogradskaya of the Lenenergo branch St. Petersburg High-Voltage Electric Networks. Fast fault detection for power transformers and increase their useful life, reliability augmentation of power supply of consumers.
Device for continuous monitoring of gas content in transformer oil SEVERON TM8 (produced by Qualitrol, USA). Place of installation — substation 110 kV #370 PGV-2 Svetlana of the Lenenergo branch St. Petersburg High-Voltage Electric Networks. Early detection of faults in power transformers and increase their useful life, reliability augmentation of power supply of consumers.
Automatic monitoring system of the insulation pollution of overhead lines MetrySense-4000 (produced by Metricom, Israel). Place of installation — OTL 110 kV Obukhovskaya-3/4 and OTL 110 kV Kudrovskaya-5/Oktyabrskaya-11 of the Lenenergo branch St. Petersburg High-Voltage Electric Networks. Will allow supervising distantly the level of pollution of overhead lines insulation and in a timely manner to clean it up in the areas of aggressive environment.

In 2014, the programs were implemented together with such higher education institutions as St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University, National Mineral and Raw University “Gorny”, St. Petersburg State Agrarian University, Ivanovo State Power University and National Research University “MEI”.

A total of 561 employees were trained on the professional development programs, which funding totaled RUB 4.3 mln, 25 employees were re-trained in higher education institutions for which RUB 9.1 mln was allocated.
